Illegal cigarettes and tobacco seized after North Queensland raids

North Queensland authorities have seized nearly 133,000 illegal cigarettes and almost 40 kilograms of “chop chop” tobacco in raids as new laws and harsher penalties take effect.

The new state regulations — which increased penalties for commercially supplying illicit smoking products — came into effect on April 3.
